Colorado River

Grand Prismatic

Looking like something from a Willy Wonka movie, the waters of the Colorado River do not run clear in some spots. Upon first viewing the color of the water here we though there must have been a heavy rain somewhere up stream. It turns out that section of the river is just downstream from the famous Red Rocks area. The color is from the natural iron ore leaching into the water. Learning that, we were no longer horrified by the look of the water. It was just another one of nature's mysteries solved.
