Mountain Railroad

Grand Prismatic

Just outside of the small town of Silver Plume, Colorado, West Side Lumber Co. Engine No. 9 stopped for just a short time to switch tracks. As part of the Georgetown Loop Railroad, this 80 ton locomotive is one of three of the largest narrow guage engines ever built. It once hauled heavy loads of lumber in Tuolumne, California until the early 1960s and was the last steam-powered logging railroad in the United States. Today this mighty engine pulls passengers through the mountains for a railroad experience.
